Anja begins by working from life out in the landscape. These spontaneous drawings come into being mostly while traveling; then, back in the studio, they are turned into paintings.

By studying natural and cultural landscapes, Anja captures how we affect the land. Her work makes visible the delicate balance between nature, architecture, and cultural impact.

Where classical cityscapes were once dominated by church spires, her paintings now reveal the modern landmarks of our era. Even in the most remote mountain areas, her work depicts how street lamps illuminate imposing massifs, highlighting the omnipresence of human intervention.
